colours of the mountain

finished this great book "colours of the mountain" a memoir by da chen. captures the funny side of life as the author grows up in the dusty village of yellow stone in china during the cultural revolution.
as landords the chen family have been stripped of their wealth and status and the only thing they have is their pride and empty stomachs. young chen is ostracized and has difficulty in attending schools where he is citimized regularly. the decade long cultural revolution screws up everyone's lives but chen being the youngest des not bear the brunt so much, moreover he is lousy at field work.
chen's descriptions of his grandfather, his father ad his four "spiritual brothers" are really captivating and can bring a tear to the eye.ultiimately he makes it to the college despite all odds.highly recommended!!

american idol fever

first a talented, a very good singer of asian origin (paul kim)gets kicked off..and then today sundance head and stephnie, two very smooth and awesome singers are voted..america.u got to be kiddin.sanjay deserved to be kicked off (and whats with the hula!). with due respect to his ethnicity but he cannot sing for nuts..or is america trying to pull off a popularity contest?

my vote still goes for the two chris for their unique style; one does his beat thing and the other wants to make "david hasselhof cry"...among the ladies lakisha and melinda...
and among the 4, the title of american idol 2007 is up for grabs...

pregnancy

first post on some weird things. i thot weird things happened only in india- ramar pillai driving a bike on herbal fuel, a 3 year old boy who can marathon and many more.

recently the singapore gossip daily "the new paper" published a story on a 9 year old primary 3 girl who gave birth to a healthy bonny boy. how on earth can a 9 year old child give birth to another child..i guess the ozone layer is widening and speeding things up.

incidentally an extremely obese woman also gave birth to a bonny boy. thats not uncommon, but what was weird was that she did not realize she was pregnant till the baby dropped and wailed! now thats a bathroom break she wont forget for a long time.

speaking of pregnancy, i remember making a very 'wise' comment back in a marketing course in b school..during a discussion on advertising strategy for a stretch mark remover for pregnant woman, i said "sir, the concept itself is wrong, why will someone want to remove the stretch mark when every woman looks forward to pregnancy and its an experience in itself".

i was given a dress down by the professor!

the idea; test

the idea is that i post things that i find strange and queer to me..just for laughs. please do not take this blog seriously.i will also share with you my thoughts on movies, music, and others. disclaimer: i skipped my primary classes in spelling, grammer hence u may not comprehend what i write here.
